Disneyland Abu Dhabi Project Progressing, Miral CEO Confirms
Plans to bring Disneyland to Abu Dhabi are moving ahead, with Miral Group CEO Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi reaffirming commitment to the project in a LinkedIn post congratulating Thomas Mazloum on his appointment as Chairman of Disney Experiences and highlighting ongoing collaboration.
Al Zaabi said, “As we continue our exciting journey to bring Disney to Abu Dhabi, I look forward to working closely with Thomas and the incredible Disney team to turn this vision into reality. Together, we will create something truly extraordinary for our region and guests.”
The Disneyland Abu Dhabi project, first announced in May 2025 as a partnership between Miral and The Walt Disney Company, will be the first Disney theme park in the Middle East and Disney’s seventh global resort. Early visuals from Bob Iger’s site visit to Yas Island suggest a waterfront setting, with Yas North likely to host the park.
The development is expected to roll out over several years, with one to two years of design followed by four to six years of construction, targeting an early 2030s opening. The park will feature new elements, including water integration in Disney’s signature castle, offering an experience described by Iger as “authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati.”
Yas Island, already home to Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, and Yas Waterworld, will continue to be a central hub for family entertainment and tourism in the UAE.
